This man is a living legend in his own right. He may just be a regular guy, but his musings and views on life make him the funniest person on the planet, period. And it’s the best kind of funny; it’s not a forced funny, like he’s deliberately trying to say clichéd “humorous” statements to coax a smile onto people’s faces. It’s not a scripted funny either; you wouldn’t see him doing a stand-up routine, rattling off rehearsed lines which he decided were amusing beforehand. No, he’s naturally funny, and he doesn’t even seem to realise it. His name is Karl Pilkington, and he’s the funniest man alive.
He has starred in the hit TV series An Idiot Abroad, which ran for two series, the first documenting his visits to the seven wonders of the world, and the second being his “bucket list” (things to do before you die). However, while on these travels, he had no control over what happened and precisely where he went. The journeys were determined by Ricky Gervais and Steven Merchant, who consistently gave him surprises and activities, most of which did not appeal to him. Granted, it was a little cruel in places, but then again, he can’t have minded too much if he agreed to a second series, could he?
He is also in the extremely popular podcast/TV series entitled The Ricky Gervais Show, which is probably best described as a series of random and pointless conversations. Most of these conversations involve Ricky and Steve asking Karl relatively simple questions which, due to Karl’s “unique” perspective on the world, lead to much fun and frivolity. The podcast holds the current record for being the most downloaded in history, and there’s little wonder why.

Karl Pilkington – a man so closed-minded and dense, he’s a genius.
